Pattern combination 8: V prep/adv; V nIn the pattern V prep/adv, the verb is followed by a prepositional phrase or adverb group. In the pattern V n, the verb is followed by a noun group. This combination is asymmetrical because in the structure without an Object the verb does not occur alone.This combination of patterns has three combinations of structures:
