The 'conditional' group

These adjectives indicate that one thing only happens if another thing does.
The President made his departure conditional on a guarantee of safety for himself and members of his family.
The type of weave produced is dependent on the sequence of interlacing.
The adjective is sometimes followed by upon instead of on.
The settlement is conditional upon acceptance by a majority in a postal ballot.
The preposition on or upon is sometimes followed by an '-ing' clause.
He was asked whether the acceptance of the resolutions was contingent on getting a cease-fire.
The preposition on or upon is sometimes followed by a noun group and an '-ing' clause. This pattern is ADJ on n -ing.
The project is conditional on natural gas being supplied to the area.
