These adjectives indicate that something has patterns or marks which are either raised slightly above the surface, or are marked into the surface.
The paper on the walls was pale gold, embossed with swirling leaf designs.
The heavy dark table is inlaid with lighter wood.
The walls of these rotting buildings are freshly pockmarked with bullet holes.
