The '-bearing' group

These combining forms combine with nouns, and -armed also combines with adjectives and adverbs. The adjectives formed indicate that a person or group carries or uses something.
How can conflict be waged between nuclear-armed adversaries without leading to mutual destruction?
Because he was a trained, sword-bearing warrior, he was quite strong, but he was taken by surprise, so there was no help for him.
