Combining forms

The '-covered' group

These combining forms combine with nouns, and -coated also combines with adverbs. The adjectives formed indicate that something is covered with something, or decorated with something.
Add plain popcorn and shake until popcorn is evenly coated.
The winter landscape of snow-covered mountains and hills contrasts with the dark green of the forests.
As he talks, he paces round the table in his book-lined conference room like a character in a bad courtroom drama.
Television reports showed fighters darting through rubble-strewn streets between charred tanks and corpses half buried in snow.
