The comparative adjective is followed by than and a finite clause.
The composition of the government is in fact more balanced than these figures would suggest.
His face seemed slightly narrower than she had remembered.
He's four years older than I am.
The ideas of economists are more powerful than is commonly understood.
You're even prettier than you were before.
