Graded and ungraded adjectives

Adverbs that do not grade

There are other adverbs which modify adjectives, and indicate the extent to which the adjective is true, but which are not grading adverbs. These adverbs are used with both graded and ungraded adjectives; an adjective which is modified by one of these adverbs is not necessarily graded.
