The 'road' group

These nouns refer to ways of getting to a particular position, usually one you want to be in.
Any experience on the road towards whatever goal you set yourself can be useful, even if it's not obvious.
The preposition towards or toward is occasionally followed by an '-ing' clause.
He made it clear he regarded the acquisition of the French player as a huge stepping stone towards winning the title.
