Productive uses
A prepositional phrase beginning with with can be used after many other nouns of certain general kinds.1 The prepositional phrase is used after nouns referring to employment, as in a job with a plastics firm, a career with Rover, or nouns referring to people with a particular job, as in a consultant with Gartner group.
2 The prepositional phrase is used after nouns referring to activities, meals, or periods of time to indicate who someone is with, as in a walk with her husband, dinner with friends, an evening with Della.
