The 'strive' group
These verbs are concerned with trying to achieve something.
Scientists are groping towards an understanding of what the brain does when it sees - or conjures up - an image.
Students participating in the programme are encouraged to strive towards a high level of achievement.
Humanists teach us to work toward a better society for all in whatever ways we can.
The preposition towards (or toward) is sometimes followed by an '-ing' clause.
