The 'help' group

These verbs indicate that something is partly responsible for something happening or being achieved. We include here contribute, which indicates that someone is partly responsible for paying for something.
People from the neighbourhood have contributed towards the cost of the shrine.
The slowing down of the domestic economy helped towards the improvement in exports.
The preposition towards (or toward) is sometimes followed by an '-ing' clause.
The document the ministers have drafted should help towards finding a solution to the crisis.
