Chapter 4 Complex Patterns with Prepositions and AdverbsIn this chapter we describe complex verb patterns in which the verb is followed by a noun group and a prepositional phrase or an adverb group. In Sections 1 to 4 we describe patterns in which the verb is followed by a noun group and either a prepositional phrase introduced by a wide variety of prepositions, or by an adverb group. In Sections 5 to 27 we describe patterns in which the verb is followed by a noun group and a prepositional phrase introduced by a specific preposition, such as about, to or with. These sections are ordered alphabetically, by preposition.V n prep/adv, V n adv/prepV n with advV pl-n with togetherV way prep/advV n about nV n against nV n as adjV n as nV n as to whV n at nV n between/among pl-nV n by nV n for nV n from nV n in nV n into nV n into -ingV n of nV n off nV n on nV n onto n, V n on to nV n out of nV n over nV n to nV n towards/toward nV n with nLess frequent patterns
