Combining forms

The '-haired' group

These combining forms combine with adjectives or, sometimes, colour words. The adjectives formed are used to describe a person, animal, or piece of clothing by indicating what one part is like.

Brightly dressed in new, crisp clothes, rosy-cheeked and apparently friendly, they sit down to their juice and biscuits.
Suddenly the door burst open and a large, red-faced man in a short-sleeved shirt and Bermudas stepped in.
A dark-haired young woman with an English rose complexion came towards us.
