The adjective group follows a link verb. Adjectives in this pattern are sometimes called predicative adjectives.

Most adjectives are sometimes found in the pattern v-link ADJ. We list below those adjectives among the 500 most frequent adjectives which, in the senses shown, are always or usually found in the pattern v-link ADJ rather than in the pattern ADJ n. The list includes a few adjectives, such as awake and asleep, which are less frequent but which occur only with the pattern v-link ADJ. In general, graded adjectives, or graded senses of adjectives, are more usually found in the v-link ADJ pattern than ungraded ones.
This pattern is used to say that someone or something has a particular quality or is in a particular state, or that there is or is not a change of quality or state.
