Chapter 2 Simple Patterns with Prepositions and AdverbsIn this chapter we describe simple verb patterns in which the verb is followed by a prepositional phrase or an adverb group. In Sections 1 to 4 we describe patterns in which the verb is followed either by a prepositional phrase introduced by a wide variety of prepositions, or by an adverb group. In Sections 5 to 34 we describe patterns in which the verb is followed by a prepositional phrase introduced by a specific preposition, such as about, to or with.
