Graded and ungraded adjectives

Pattern 24: however ADJ

The adjective follows the adverb however. This pattern, together with the next two patterns, is used to imply that the fact that someone or something may have a quality to a great degree does not matter.
They should be allowed to establish some sort of state of their own, however imperfect.
The fact, however uncomfortable, is that our cars are choking our country, choking our children.
