These adjectives classify people and animals in terms of basic things such as age, sex, and whether they are alive or not.
Brian was more than 20 years older than Penny and had five adult children.
Her husband appeared, bleeding but alive, and together they picked their way through the broken timbers of the house.
He walked away from the scene of the accident, urged on by his female companion, later identified as his secretary.
