These nouns refer to actions that support something or someone.
Right across the country, in the first months of 1946, there were demonstrations in favour of Franco organized by the Movimiento.
In the case of vote, the preposition in favour of is sometimes followed by an '-ing' clause.
An unofficial 'referendum' last Sunday produced a 97 per cent vote in favour of putting the former president on trial for his role in the economic crisis.
