The 'depressing' group

These adjectives indicate that someone or something has a quality which causes someone to react negatively to them. The person who reacts is not mentioned in the pattern.
There is something depressing about the shorter days of autumn and winter.
There was something profoundly disturbing about his pale, ghostlike face.
The preposition about is sometimes followed by an '-ing' clause.
There is something very disconcerting about being stared at through binoculars.
