The 'important' group

These adjectives indicate that something is important or necessary. They are used with verbs such as make.
As people grow older, conditions like arthritis make it important that the neck is not extended or manipulated beyond limited ranges.
We think it's a depressing state of affairs and it makes it necessary that the Government does more for Aboriginal people.
All these adjectives except compulsory and mandatory are also used with verbs such as think. The verb in the that-clause is sometimes in the subjunctive.
We thought it important that Phil continue to write.
I think it vital that doctors appreciate the importance of personal, family, and cultural beliefs.
