ADJ after v

The adjective group comes after a verb group.In some cases, the adjective group gives more information about the person or thing indicated by the Subject. The adjective group may come immediately after the verb group, as in She stood still, or it may follow a noun group or a prepositional phrase, as in Noll had entered the kitchen unnoticed. This is Pattern 1. Pattern 1 has no passive.In other cases, the adjective group follows a verb group and a noun group and gives more information about the person or thing indicated by the noun group. The pattern is v n ADJ. This is Pattern 2. Pattern 2 has a passive in which the adjective group gives more information about the person or thing indicated by the Subject. In both active and passive, there is occasionally an adverb or prepositional phrase before the adjective group.Pattern 1: ADJ after v
