Comparative adjectives

Pattern 6: ADJ-COMPAR than adj/-ed

The comparative adjective is followed by than and an adjective such as normal or usual or a past participle such as expected, anticipated, or predicted.
The response has been better than expected.
Though the average temperature was only about one degree colder than usual, severe effects followed.
The rooms are clean and spacious, baths are larger than average and there are six rooms that sleep four at £45 each.
In some places it is quite a bit warmer than normal and in some places it is quite a bit cooler.
